Translate a theme

You can translate the theme with two way; Poedit and Loco Translate. These way is best solution for translation. We recommend Loco Translate.

Loco Translate

  1. Go to Plugins > Add New from the admin panel menu.
  2. Search Loco Translate with search form.
  3. Install and active Loco Translate plugin.
  4. Go to Loco Translate page from the admin panel menu.
  5. Click on the theme name from the Active theme section.
  6. Click on the New language button.
  7. Choose a language from Choose a language dropdown. This language is the language you want to translate.
  8. Choose a file location from Choose a location. Your .POT file will save in that location.
  9. Click on the Start translating button.
  10. Translate the words and the sentences from this interface.
  11. Click on the save button.


  1. Login to your hosting via FTP.
  2. Download .POT file in wp-content/themes/theme/languages folder.
  3. Open PoEdit software.
  4. Open the .POT file with PoEdit software.
  5. Create the translation for your language.
  6. Save the file with your language code (such as de_DE.po/ or fr_FR.po/ etc.).
  7. Upload the .PO/.MO file/files to wp-content/themes/theme/languages folder in the theme via FTP.

Change main site language via WordPress Panel

  1. Go to the Settings > General page from admin panel menu.
  2. Scroll to the Site Language dropdown.
  3. You can change site language from this dropdown.
  4. Click on the Save Changes button after process is finished.

Change main site language via config.php

  1. Login to your hosting via FTP.
  2. Open the wp-config.php file (This file is in your website root directory).
  3. Find the WPLANG word.
  4. Change the language code with your language code you want to use. Click for language codes.
  5. Save the file and replace with existing file.
